What’s New in the 2023 Toyota Sequoia?

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia has been completely redesigned, with a sharper, more bold design, especially to the grille. The interior saw upgrades that make it feel premium throughout the cabin, while the star of the show is powertrain, featuring the new i-Force Max hybrid system.

History and Highlights of the Toyota Sequoia

The award-nominated Sequoia’s been around as a dependable full-size SUV for more than 20 years, debuting on January 11, 2000. Full production began in September of that year for the 2001 model year. In the course of those 20+ years, the Sequoia has only been redesigned three times. For 2023, the Sequoia takes its place as the flagship SUV in the Toyota lineup.

The third-generation Sequoia was unveiled on January 25, 2022, produced at Toyota’s San Antonio plant. Like the first generation, this generation uses a solid rear axle instead of an independent setup from the previous generation.

The Sequoia is available in several trim levels, four of which are carried over from the previous generation: SR5, Limited, Platinum, and TRD Pro, as well as the flagship Capstone luxury-oriented trim. Depending on trims, the Sequoia is available with either 7- or 8-passenger seating, with either a split bench or dual captain's chairs in the second row.
